‘Destination addiction’

Dear Readers- Just a quick food for thought post here today.

I think I have had this syndrome before, and even now and then I do. Saw this quote and it makes perfect sense. Doesn’t it?

If we are always seeking it somewhere other than self, it will never be where you are.

Everything we ever need for us to be happy is supposed to be within ourselves I hear..

Thoughts?

Have you experienced ‘destination addiction’?

Thank you for being here!

As Always,

Stay curious & have a peaceful day!

  1. I think it’s healthy. A change is as good as a rest. Staying in one place can lead to stagnation. It’s good to plan holidays. Sometimes people want to travel longer. Whatever floats your boat! If someone is happy in one place then they like that place. Every place is different. I actually read a book on this called “The Power of Place” by Winifred Gallagher. Interesting. Going somewhere else can turn your life around or it can bring you back feeling refreshed. Wanting to see new places is a great thing. Like wanting to read a new book or see a new movie or try a new food. Who wants to live in a cage? Life is always in transition. Sometimes you are not happy where you are you change things and you are happier somewhere else. Or perhaps not. But life will always involve change. It does not stand still. It is good to be happy in the moment. But that moment can still be travel! I have wanderlust so it excites me to see the world and bores me to stay in one place. That’s just me though. Everyone’s different. 🙂

    1. Yes, I totally understand that change is refreshing and as a fellow traveler and someone with travel bug I like trying new things and food and such. Also, thank you for mentioning the book! Now, I can add another one to my read list:)

This quote was more about how people are always wanting and looking for happiness in things, places and people other than themselves which makes them feel incomplete by themselves. They are always looking for happiness in other people or things, basically just in an outside world and feeling unhappy within.

  2. In my opinion, happiness and destinations are two different things. You can always find happiness in your innerself and things you love to do. I am happy being a mediocre but my destination is being a rich. It will add value to my happiness. And sometimes, you need to left the thrones back you are walking in.

    1. Hi, yes, I completely understand what you are saying and agree!

The way I was thinking about it was that- sometimes we think that happiness is in the next thing/next place/next xyz and look for happiness in other people/place instead of finding it on our own.
