~Onwards~ 3 months – You?

Hello Dear Readers, It’s spring and still snowing here. I put the cushions on the swing-set out on my porch only to find it covered in s-Nooooooo(w)! It was starting to get sunnier and warmer but the weather gods decided they were just kidding! Anyway, I have sunshine in my thoughts!

Since I know you are listening, here it goes – In a post that I published on January 3rd, 2018 titled Starting 2018 Onwards with Intention I started a ‘to-accomplish’ list instead of a New Years Resolution. NYRs usually last for about the first 2 weeks, maybe 2 days from the day you start and then it just…poof, disappears! So, in my ‘To-accomplish’ list I had the following. How did I do? Let’s find out together!

~~3 month update coming up!~~

  • Drink green tea throughout the day, coffee only occasionally (couple times a month)

Update: Yes, I have been drinking mostly tea. Green tea once a day for sure, but I have somehow added on English breakfast tea, Chamomile tea before bed and also tried this green tea with peppermint which I disliked a lot…I digress…Green Tea? I drink Tea throughout the day, so √.

Decided not to limit myself to only green tea. I think I had coffee probably 3-4 times in the past 3 months so another √.

  • Go to heated yoga class 3 times a week

Update: This one I didn’t do so well with. Initially,  the first two months I went for about 3 times a week. Then, March happened and I had about 3 work trips. Two domestic, and One International, so cancelled the membership ( actually put it on hold) because it made sense as I was barely at home. So 2/3 of a √? 😀

  • Keep FB checking to a minimum so i can maximize my focusing ability.

Update: This one was surprisingly my favorite. I have not been scrolling through facebook flushing countless mindless hours scrolling through posts where everyone looks happy. I understand people like to post happy memories, but good comes with the bad and there are always two sides of a coin. I did however use the messenger app to stay connected with friends and checked it only twice a week without scrolling for event invites. So a full √.:D

  • Learn a new skill at work once a month

Update: Starting to do two new things at work which will get me closer to my career goals. Did I WANT to take on additional responsibility? No! Did I do it anyway because I like to give my 110%? Yes! I like winning. Who doesn’t;) right? and I only compete with who I was yesterday to be a better me. So, √.

  • Learn more about real estate investment.

Update: I only completely read about 2 books and have about 4 next to my nightstand which I have started but not finished. Thanks friend for letting me borrow these books:D I will read them. 🙂  I didn’t make as much progress as I intended but I didn’t completely ignore it. So 1/2 √.

  • Write a couple of posts per month

Update: This blogging world has been so kind to me. I love creative writing and interacting with my kinda’ people here. When I started in December 2017, I thought maybe I would have 50 followers in 2 months! To my disbelief, I had over 150! Thank you so much for reading my posts and liking, commenting and following. It makes my heart full! The more I write, the more I learn. So, √.√.√.:D

  • Join a book-club and read more books

Update: I am now sort of a regular..I think!?.. Have been to about 2 whole meetings. I read one and 1/3 of a book, and in the process of listening to one in preparation for the 3rd meeting.

  • Use more natural products

Update: I did make an organic brown sugar lip/scrub for the brutal midwest winter and gifted some to friends and my mom. Other than that – I use organic coconut oil to moisturize my hands. I should make some more lotion! √.

~ What’s next?~

One of the things I have started doing is reading more blogs, daily. I love finding new blogs to read and I leave a comment when something resonates with me.

I enjoy reading comments on my posts, so I give back…proactively:D Sometimes, an encouraging and supportive comment is all it takes to brighten someone’s day! Even though through this virtual medium, I feel I have made some pretty great connections.

  1. I enrolled myself in a very expensive gym membership, but I too have been traveling so much for work. I haven’t been as often as I wanted 😦

    I had promised myself to reduce workstress, but that hasn’t happened either.
    Luckily a time with sunshine and holidays is coming.

    My one tip for anyone dealing with workstress to not take your holidays in the typical summer holiday season.
    You won’t get as many emails, because people are not in the office. So you can finish the tasks that were lacking 🙂

    1. Hi Andrea! Yes, that’s the issue with memberships ..when you travel for work, it messes up the work out schedule and even the food habits..

      Hopefully with the spring and summer months, the workstress just sort of fades away with the sunshine:)

      Good tip on not taking holidays during summer months, will keep that in mind. Thanks for your thoughtful comment. I enjoy this aspect of blogging!:)

      1. Thank you so much for the encouragement! In the last three months, I have be able to keep my new-year-resolution for most of the days. That is to get up earlier than I used to (I am a night owl). Now I find my morning to be quite productive. 😊 Then I have completed a bible course and attended a few bread making courses. Now my bread are much soften than before. 😄

  2. I have tried to exercise more! Biking and Cardio Dance and some hiking.
    I am very active in a Rock and Gem club and March was extremely busy as we out on a big event that involves almost 2000 people coming to it. Now to add reading more …to my list!

    1. Hello Nancy! Great job on keeping up with your exercise schedule. That’s the one thing I need to be consistent at. Rock and Gem club sounds interesting! What do you for that? Sounds like a huge event!

      1. We put on a large rock, gems, minerals show. About 35 vendors selling their wares. Many selling gorgeous jewelry!
        My sweet man and I are in charge of layout. Then our team implements the layout and the tear down as well.

    1. Ya, and the funny-ish…part is that today was suuuper sunny which means it was suuuper cold…I walked out for 30 seconds and the cold wind made my face hurt! 😀 I actually like to ski, so hate to see the snow go but can’t wait for it to be spring!:)

  3. I am a tea addict. I usually drink it everyday between 9 am and 4 pm. Sometimes as late as 6 pm but must stop if I want to sleep that night. LOL. Glad to hear you are making your own skin care products. Commercially made are potentially harmful. If you make your own you can control the ingredients. 🙂

Hello Tea-Addict!:) Out of all things you could be addicted, you picked a good addiction I would say;) Ya, I start with English breakfast, then Green tea, then chamomile…I think I now have a pattern! Yes, I love making organic lip srubs, balms and lotions. After I did my research about commercial products/lotions, I stopped immediately, it has been a little over a year now.
      How have the first three months of this year been for you? Any fun projects? soaps?:)
